Biography (read more)
Ana Vidović (born 8 November 1980, in Karlovac, Croatia) is a Croatian classical guitarist and former child prodigy. Inspired by her older brother Viktor, also a classical guitarist, she began playing at age five and was performing internationally by eleven. At thirteen she became the youngest student ever admitted to the Academy of Music in Zagreb, studying under Professor István Römer and graduating in 1998. She went on to study with Manuel Barrueco at the Peabody Institute in Baltimore, graduating in 2003. Before the age of eighteen she had won more than twenty international prizes, including first prizes at the Albert Augustine Memorial International Competition (Bath, England), the Fernando Sor Competition (Rome), and the Francisco Tárrega International Guitar Competition (Benicàssim, Spain, 1998), as well as top honors at the Eurovision Young Musicians competition and the Young Concert Artists International Auditions in New York. She has since built a career of international recitals, concerto engagements, and festival appearances, and has released several studio and live albums.
Vidović is regarded as one of the leading classical guitarists of her generation, praised by critics for playing described as virtually immaculate, nuanced, and deeply personal. Beyond the concert hall, her recorded performances circulate widely online, including through guitar-focused YouTube channels such as Siccas Guitars, extending her reach to global audiences well beyond her touring schedule.
