Tarquinio Merula (24 November 1595 – 10 December 1665) was an Italian organist, violinist and composer, born in Busseto in the Duchy of Parma. He worked mainly in Cremona, with a period at the Warsaw court of Sigismund III Vasa, and is stylistically grouped with the Venetian school.

Merula was among the most progressive Italian composers of his generation, particularly in sacred music and the early cantata and aria forms; his instrumental canzonas were widely influential on the emerging Baroque style.
