Biography (read more)
Bellot Ensemble is a period-instrument early-music group specialising in 16th- and 17th-century repertoire, with a particular focus on historical divisions and improvisation informed by the performance treatises of the period. They collaborate regularly with singers, choirs and opera societies, working in partnership with the Continuo Foundation.
Their programme covers early Venetian opera (Cavalli, Monteverdi), the Italian solo vocal and instrumental avant-garde (Strozzi, Castello, Marini) and English consort and theatre music (Lawes, Purcell), reflecting a broad view of the transition from Renaissance to Baroque performance practice.
