Biography (read more)
Bengt Forsberg was born in Sweden in 1952 and trained at the Gothenburg School of Music, then with Peter Feuchtwanger and Herman David Koppel. His name is joined above all to the mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter, his recital partner across decades, including their recording of songs written in the Terezín concentration camp.
Forsberg is the connoisseur’s accompanist and a champion of neglected repertoire — Chaminade, Alfvén, Medtner and the byways of the song literature owe much of their modern discography to him. In this catalogue he is the pianist behind singers: the same sensibility heard under many voices, which makes his rows a study in the accompanist’s art.
