David Jacques is a Québécois guitarist from Saint-Georges de Beauce. He was born in 1978. He holds a doctorate in early-music performance. He was director of programming for the Festival des musiques sacrées de Québec from 2008 to 2011.
He has taken part in more than 50 recordings, in a repertoire that is mainly classical. In 2020 he released the solo album “14 Histoires de guitares,” featuring 14 guitars built over the previous 400 years. A second volume, featuring guitars of the Romantic era, followed in 2021. He collects rare guitars, including a 1665 Voboam and a Villaume & Giron theorbo guitar. Unlike most collectors, he plays these guitars himself and exhibits them in concert.
