Biography (read more)

Camille Thomas (born 1988 in Paris) is a Franco-Belgian cellist who began playing at age four. She studied with Marcel Bardon and Philippe Muller in France before advanced training in Germany with Stephan Forck and Frans Helmerson at Berlin’s Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler, and with Wolfgang-Emmanuel Schmidt at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar. She was named a ‘classical revelation’ by Adami in 2010 and won Revelation, Instrumental Soloist at the Victoires de la Musique Classique in 2014. In 2017 she became the first female cellist signed to Deutsche Grammophon.

Thomas’s 2017 signing to Deutsche Grammophon marked a historic breakthrough for female cellists in major classical recording, and she has since built a prominent international touring and recording career.
