Jonathan Tetelman was born in 1988 in Castro, Chile, and was adopted and raised in Hopewell, New Jersey. He trained initially as a baritone before transitioning to tenor, studying at the Manhattan School of Music and the Mannes School of Music, and has built an international opera career centred primarily in Europe.
Tetelman is known for signature roles including Rodolfo (La bohème), Alfredo (La traviata), Cavaradossi (Tosca), and Werther, performed at venues including the Royal Opera House, English National Opera, Semperoper Dresden, and Oper Frankfurt. In 2021 he signed an exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon/Universal Classics, and critics have praised his voice for its warmth and elegance, marking him as one of the most prominent rising tenors of his generation.
