Bomsori Kim was born on 13 December 1989 in Daegu, South Korea, and began violin at age five. She trained at the Yewon Arts School and Seoul National University before completing a master’s degree and Artist Diploma on full scholarship at the Juilliard School, studying with Young Uck Kim, Sylvia Rosenberg, and Ronald Copes.

Kim has won prizes at ten major international competitions, including a top prize at the ARD International Music Competition (2013), laureate status at the Queen Elisabeth Competition (2015), and second prize at the Wieniawski Competition (2016). She has been an exclusive Deutsche Grammophon recording artist since 2021, won the 2024 Opus Klassik award for her Nielsen violin concerto recording, and performs on a 1725 Guarneri del Gesù violin loaned through the Samsung Foundation.
