Benjamin Bernheim was born on 9 June 1985 in Paris and grew up in Geneva, studying violin and piano before beginning voice lessons at age ten. He trained at the Lausanne Conservatory under Gary Magby and joined the Opera Studio of Zurich Opera House for the 2008/09 season, which launched his professional career.
A lyric tenor celebrated for French and Italian repertoire, Bernheim has sung at the Royal Opera House, La Scala, Vienna State Opera, Berlin State Opera, and the Paris Opera, and made his Metropolitan Opera debut in 2022 as the Duke in Rigoletto. He was named Opera Singer of the Year at France’s Victoires de la Musique in 2020, was made a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in 2021, and records exclusively for Deutsche Grammophon.
