Beatrice Rana was born on 22 January 1993 in Copertino, Italy, began piano at age four, and made her orchestral debut at nine playing Bach. She trained with Benedetto Lupo at the Nino Rota Conservatory in Monopoli and later with Arie Vardi at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover.
Rana won first prize at the 2011 Montreal International Piano Competition and the silver medal at the 2013 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, launching an international career with orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw and Philadelphia Orchestra. She was named Gramophone’s Young Artist of the Year in 2017 for recordings including Bach’s Goldberg Variations, and she is an exclusive Warner Classics recording artist with an active international touring schedule.
