Biography (read more)
Pierre Regnault, known as Sandrin (c. 1490 – after 1561), was a French singer and composer. A chorister at the French royal court from 1506, he rejoined the royal chapel by 1539 and became, alongside Claudin de Sermisy, one of the most celebrated composers of chansons in France. He later worked in Italy, serving the Este family at Siena in 1554, and is last recorded in Rome around 1561.
His chansons were widely printed and circulated across 16th-century Europe, and he is regarded as one of the defining voices of the mid-century Parisian chanson alongside Sermisy and Janequin.
