Biography (read more)
Aleksander Dębicz (born 23 August 1988 in Wrocław, Poland) is a Polish pianist and composer. A graduate of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw under Elżbieta Tarnawska, he developed a personal style he calls “cinematic classical,” blending classical piano technique with film-score narrative and free improvisation. He introduced this style on his debut album Cinematic Piano (2015, Warner Classics) and has since released further recordings including Bach Stories and Invention, both nominated for Poland’s Fryderyk award.
In addition to his recording career, Dębicz has composed for Polish theatre productions and won the 2022 Bridgerton Scoring Competition organized by Spitfire Audio. His genre-blurring collaborations, including performances with countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński, have brought his improvisatory approach to classical repertoire to wide international audiences.
