Bruno Delepelaire is a French cellist born in Paris who trained in both Paris and Berlin. Since being appointed in November 2013 (officially joining in January 2015), he has served as first principal cellist of the Berlin Philharmonic.

Delepelaire has appeared as a soloist with the Berlin Philharmonic in works including Strauss’s Don Quixote, Haydn’s Cello Concerto No. 2, and John Williams’s Elegy for Cello and Orchestra, and is active in chamber music with the Berlin Piano Quartet, the Twelve Cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic, and his own Quatuor Cavatine. He won first prize at the Karl Davidoff International Cello Competition and the 2013 Markneukirchen International Instrumental Competition, plus second prize at the 2013 Banff International String Quartet Competition, and plays a Matteo Goffriller cello on loan through the Karolina Blaberg Foundation.
