Biography (read more)

Vivid Consort is a Vienna-based trio of recorder players and singers formed by Sheng-Fang Chiu, Lorina Vallaster, and Christine Gnigler. The group performs repertoire ranging from medieval and Renaissance music through to contemporary works, with a particular focus on English music of the late Renaissance and early Baroque, and has appeared at venues including the Musikverein and Konzerthaus in Vienna as well as festivals across Austria, Germany, Spain, Italy, Poland, and further afield. They frequently collaborate with guest musicians, including lutenist David Bergmüller, on themed programs exploring “early pop music” and cross-genre pairings of historical and modern repertoire.

Vivid Consort brings an unusually broad stylistic range to the recorder consort tradition, presenting Renaissance partsongs by Dowland, Morley, Gibbons, and Bull alongside medieval and contemporary material within the same programs, and has built a following through touring across more than a dozen countries and through video performances that pair historical repertoire with inventive staging and guest collaborators.
