The 1975 is an English pop-rock band from Wilmslow, Cheshire, formed by school friends Matty Healy (vocals, guitar), Adam Hann (guitar), Ross MacDonald (bass), and George Daniel (drums, production), releasing music professionally from 2012 via Dirty Hit. Their albums, including the self-titled debut (2013) and A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships (2018), have all topped the UK charts.
The band is frequently cited as one of the most influential and commercially successful pop-rock acts of their generation, winning a Brit Award for British Album of the Year and inspiring a wave of indie-pop successors.
