Biography (read more)
Snow Patrol is a rock band formed in 1994 by Gary Lightbody and others while attending university in Dundee, Scotland, before relocating its creative base to Northern Ireland; they are generally described as a Northern Irish band. After years on independent labels, they broke through with the 2003 album “Final Straw” and reached international prominence with 2006’s “Eyes Open,” led by the single “Chasing Cars,” which became one of the most-played songs on UK radio in the 21st century.
Snow Patrol’s run of albums from “Final Straw” through “A Hundred Million Suns” sold roughly ten million copies combined, and “Chasing Cars” in particular became a defining anthemic ballad of 2000s rock radio.
