Lyricist Sammy Cahn (1913–1993) and composer Jule Styne (1905–1994) formed one of the most productive songwriting partnerships of Hollywood’s golden age, working together through the 1940s and early 1950s. Together they wrote enduring standards including “I Fall in Love Too Easily” (1945), “It’s Magic” (1948), and the perennial holiday favorite “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!” (1945), as well as the Broadway musical “High Button Shoes” (1947). Cahn later partnered with Jimmy Van Heusen, while Styne went on to further Broadway success with other collaborators.

The Cahn-Styne partnership produced some of the most-recorded songs of American popular music, and Cahn’s four Academy Awards and Songwriters Hall of Fame induction (1972) reflect the lasting stature of their catalog.
