Biography (read more)

Pene Pati was born in 1987 in Apia, Samoa, and moved with his family to Māngere, a suburb of Auckland, New Zealand, in 1989, where he grew up singing alongside his siblings. In 2011 the tenor Dennis O’Neill invited him to train in bel canto technique in Cardiff, Wales, and his development there was supported by Dame Kiri Te Kanawa’s foundation. He went on to become the first Samoan tenor to perform on Europe’s leading opera stages.

Pati has been an exclusive Warner Classics recording artist since his acclaimed self-titled debut album in 2022, followed by Nessun Dorma (2024) and Serenata a Napoli (2025). His tone has drawn frequent comparison to Luciano Pavarotti, and he has built a reputation for versatility across French opera and Italian bel canto repertoire, alongside his brothers Amitai and Rhonda Pati as part of a celebrated Samoan opera-singing family.
