Biography (read more)
Paul Weston (25 March 1912 – 20 September 1996) was an American pianist, arranger, composer and conductor active in music and television from the 1930s to the 1970s. He co-wrote the standard “I Should Care” (1944) with arranger Axel Stordahl, with lyrics by Sammy Cahn, first introduced in the MGM film “Thrill of a Romance”; the tune has since become a jazz standard recorded by countless artists.
Weston became known as “the Father of Mood Music” for his pioneering easy-listening orchestral recordings, and beyond his popular songs he also composed classical and religious works. “I Should Care” remains one of the most frequently performed American songbook standards among jazz instrumentalists, including jazz guitarists.
