Olivier Latry was born in 1962 near Boulogne-sur-Mer, France, and studied organ under Gaston Litaize and composition under Jean-Claude Raynaud at the Conservatoire de Paris. In 1985, at age 23, he was appointed one of the co-titular organists of Notre-Dame de Paris, a post he still holds (and is now the only remaining titulaire from that appointment), and he has taught organ at the Paris Conservatoire since 1995.

Latry is one of the world’s foremost concert organists and improvisers, having performed in more than 40 countries and recorded the complete organ works of Olivier Messiaen for Deutsche Grammophon. He was the first organist to publicly play Notre-Dame’s instrument after the 2019 fire, during its December 2024 reopening, and he holds honors including a Fellowship of the Royal College of Organists and Officer of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
