Niklas Junker is a German guitarist who was thirteen years old at the time of this recording. He won 2nd prize in the guitar solo category at "Jugend musiziert" in 2015 (3rd prize at the state/Land level), and received the Austrian "Karl-Scheit" special prize for his interpretation of Mertz’s Fingals-Höhle at the Heinrich-Albert-Gitarrenwettbewerb. Beyond these competition results, published biographical detail on him is limited.

As a young prizewinner, his recordings document an early-career interpretation of Romantic guitar repertoire.
