Mojca Erdmann was born in 1975 in Hamburg, Germany, and sang in the children’s chorus of the Hamburg State Opera before studying voice with Evelyn Herlitzius and at the Cologne University of Music. She is particularly associated with Mozart roles, and created Ariadne in the world premiere of Wolfgang Rihm’s Dionysos at the 2010 Salzburg Festival. She made her Metropolitan Opera debut in 2011 as Zerlina in Don Giovanni.

Erdmann has won several prizes including first prize at the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang Berlin (2002) and the Luitpold Prize at the Kissinger Sommer festival, and has appeared at major opera houses and festivals across Europe and the US. Her 2011 Deutsche Grammophon album Mostly Mozart highlighted her standing as a leading Mozart soprano of her generation.
