Measha Brueggergosman was born in 1977 in Fredericton, New Brunswick, and began studying voice and piano as a child. She earned a Bachelor of Music from the University of Toronto and a master’s degree from the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf, Germany. She built an international career as a soprano appearing with major orchestras and opera companies, including a lead role in the 1998 premiere of the opera Beatrice Chancy.

Brueggergosman won a Grammy Award in 2005 and a Juno Award for Classical Album of the Year in 2008, and she sang the Olympic Hymn at the opening ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. She has been recognized with the Order of New Brunswick and an honorary doctorate from Concordia University, and remains active as both a performer and broadcaster/humanitarian.
