Marianne Crebassa (born 14 December 1986 in Béziers, France) is a French mezzo-soprano who grew up in Agde and studied piano and voice, then musicology, at the conservatories of Sète and Montpellier. In 2010 she joined the young-artist program of the Opéra National de Paris, singing supporting roles in main-stage productions of Lulu, Rigoletto, and Madama Butterfly. She made her Salzburg Festival debut in 2012 as Irene in Handel’s Tamerlano and returned in 2014 in the title role of Marc-André Dalbavie’s Charlotte Salomon. Her extensive Mozart repertoire includes Cherubino, Sesto, Dorabella, and Cecilio, sung at houses including Berlin, Vienna, the Metropolitan Opera, and Amsterdam.

Praised for her rich, focused mezzo tone and vivid stage presence — including in celebrated trouser roles — Crebassa’s recordings for Erato, among them the Gramophone Award-winning Secrets: French Songs, have established her as one of the leading French mezzo-sopranos of her generation.
