Biography (read more)

Klaudyna Żołnierek is a Polish lutenist and guitarist, a graduate of the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, where she studied classical guitar with Krzysztof Pełech and lute with Anton Birula. She went on to graduate with honors from the Hochschule für Musik Trossingen in Germany, studying chamber music on historical plucked instruments with Rolf Lislevand. She performs both as a soloist on Renaissance and Baroque lute and theorbo and as a founding member of the duo AbsoLutes with fellow lutenist Maria Wilgos, as well as with the ensemble La Sensible alongside soprano Helena Bregar and in other early-music chamber groups.

As part of a younger generation of Polish lutenists trained under Rolf Lislevand at Trossingen, Żołnierek has helped build an active early-music scene in Poland through her solo recitals and her chamber projects AbsoLutes and La Sensible, which pair historical plucked-string repertoire with voice and other period instruments. Her recordings of Robert de Visée and the French Baroque lute manuscripts (Barbe and Vaudry de Saizenay), released on her 2023 album Dialogue, have been noted by classical guitar and lute publications for bringing rarely heard repertoire to a wider online audience.
