KISS is an American rock band formed in New York City in 1973 by Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss, known for its face-paint personas, elaborate costumes, and pyrotechnic-heavy shock-rock stage shows. The band produced landmark albums including Alive! (1975) and Destroyer (1976), and Stanley and Simmons remained the group’s only consistent members across numerous lineup changes.

KISS earned more Gold albums than any other American band and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014, remaining one of the most commercially successful and visually influential acts in rock history.
