Biography (read more)
Jörg Holzmann, born in 1985 in Germany, received his first guitar lessons at age seven. From 2005 to 2011 he studied classical guitar with Prof. Johannes Monno, chamber music with Sofia Kaltchev, and jazz guitar with Werner Acker at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart, graduating in 2011 with the highest possible mark. He has taken part in masterclasses with Leo Brouwer, Carlo Marchione, Judicaël Perroy, Zoran Dukic, William Kanengiser, Berta Rojas, Olaf van Gonnissen and David Russell, and has received prizes at the German youth competition Jugend musiziert.
Holzmann’s cross-training in classical, chamber and jazz guitar, combined with study under a wide range of internationally recognised teachers, reflects the versatile profile common among the current generation of German conservatory-trained guitarists.
