James Roy Horner (August 14, 1953 – June 22, 2015) was an American film composer and conductor who scored more than 160 films between 1978 and 2015, known for blending orchestral, choral, and Celtic-influenced motifs. He won two Academy Awards, six Grammy Awards, and two Golden Globes, most famously for his score and song “My Heart Will Go On” from James Cameron’s Titanic (1997).

Horner’s scores for Titanic, Braveheart, Avatar, and Aliens made him one of the most commercially successful and widely recognized film composers of his generation; the Titanic soundtrack remains the best-selling orchestral film score of all time. He died in a plane crash in 2015 at age 61.
