Jaemin Han was born in 2006 in Wonju, South Korea, began cello at age five, and made his professional debut at eight with the Wonju City Symphony Orchestra. He studied with Myung-Wha Chung, Kangho Lee, and Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi at the Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts, and since 2023 has been enrolled in the Kronberg Academy’s Professional Studies program in Germany under Wolfgang-Emanuel Schmidt.

In May 2021, Han won the grand prix of the George Enescu International Competition, becoming the youngest prize winner in the competition’s history; he has also taken prizes at the Geneva International Music Competition, the Isang Yun Competition, and several junior international cello competitions. He has performed with the Seoul Philharmonic, Orchestre de Paris, and Rotterdam Philharmonic, recorded a Deutsche Grammophon “Rising Stars” recital and Isang Yun’s Cello Concerto for Decca, and signed with management agency KD Schmid; his 2024/25 season includes debuts with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and at Carnegie Hall.
