Itamar Golan was born on 3 August 1970 in Vilnius, Lithuania, and emigrated to Israel at the age of one. He gave his first recital at seven, studied in Israel with Lara Vodovoz and Emmanuel Krazovsky, and received an America-Israel Cultural Foundation scholarship to attend the New England Conservatory in Boston, where he studied with Leonard Shure and Patricia Zander. He later pursued chamber music studies with Chaim Taub and taught at the Manhattan School of Music from 1991 to 1994.

Golan is one of the most sought-after chamber and collaborative pianists in classical music, having performed with an extraordinary roster of soloists including Maxim Vengerov, Janine Jansen, Kyung Wha Chung, Mischa Maisky, Ida Haendel, and Julian Rachlin, as well as with the Israel Philharmonic and Berlin Philharmonic under Zubin Mehta. He currently serves as professor of chamber music at the Paris Conservatoire, cementing his role as a leading figure in the training of the next generation of chamber musicians.
