Biography (read more)
Harald Stampa studied guitar with Hans Graef and Oscar Ghiglia. He recorded two solo CDs, “Choix de mes fleurs chéries” (1997) and “Danzas Argentinas” (2003, selected as Naxos CD of the Month), plus a recording of chamber and solo works by Frank Martin (2009). He has appeared as a soloist with the Basler Sinfonieorchester and the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, and in 2006 performed concerts and taught masterclasses in Santiago de Chile. He teaches guitar at the Kantonsschule Baden in Switzerland.
Stampa’s programming reflects a sustained interest in lesser-known composers and transcriptions, including recent projects on the guitar sextet “Guitarra a Seis” and works by Giulio Regondi and Robert Schumann, broadening the audience for less-performed corners of the repertoire.
