Hannah Murphy is a classical guitarist and teacher based in New York City. She holds a Master of Music degree in Classical Guitar Performance from Mannes School of Music, where she studied with Michael Newman, and a Bachelor of Music degree from Rowan University, studying with Kathleen Mayes and Joseph Mayes (a student of Andrés Segovia). She is also certified in the Suzuki Guitar Method.

Murphy has performed at the Wilmington Classical Guitar Society, Lincoln Center and the Raritan River Music Residency Program, and in 2019 received a fellowship for the Lanciano International Guitar Seminar in Italy. Alongside her solo work she performs in a classical guitar duo with Phil Goldenberg and in a duo with violist Kaya Brlya-Weiss. She co-founded the nonprofit Ex-Aequo, which promotes community building and education in classical guitar, and launched its “Changing the Canon” initiative, commissioning solo works from Black American composers.
