George Benson is an American guitarist and singer born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, who began performing as a child prodigy before becoming a professional jazz guitarist at age 19. After building his reputation in soul jazz with organist Jack McDuff, he crossed into mainstream pop and R&B with the triple-platinum album “Breezin'” (1976), whose track “This Masquerade” won a Grammy Award. Further hits followed, including “Give Me the Night,” “Turn Your Love Around,” and “Lady Love Me.”

A ten-time Grammy winner and NEA Jazz Master (2009), Benson is one of the few artists to sustain credibility with both jazz purists and mainstream pop audiences, influencing generations of guitarists and vocalists.
