Franco Fagioli was born on May 4, 1981, in San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina, and initially studied piano before turning to singing at the Instituto Superior de Arte of the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. He made his international debut in 2003 and has since performed at major opera houses in Vienna, Paris, Zurich and beyond, collaborating with conductors including Riccardo Muti and Nikolaus Harnoncourt.
Fagioli won the Neue Stimmen singing competition in Gütersloh, Germany, in 2003, and made notable debuts at the Salzburg Whitsun Festival (2014) and Royal Opera House Covent Garden (2014). His recordings, including Arias for Caffarelli (2013) and Handel: Arias (2018), along with the acclaimed Artaserse production, have earned Echo Klassik and Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik awards, cementing his standing as one of the leading countertenors of the Baroque revival.
