Chloe Chua was born in 2007 in Singapore and began studying the violin as a young child, training at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts under Yin Ke. She came to international attention in 2018 when, aged eleven, she was named joint first prize winner of the Junior division of the Yehudi Menuhin International Competition for Young Violinists alongside Christian Li. She had earlier taken first prize in Category A of the 24th Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competition in Italy. She served as artist-in-residence with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra for the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons.

Chua is among the most prominent young string players to emerge from Singapore, and her competition successes brought unusual international visibility to the country’s classical music training. Her performances of Vivaldi and of the standard concerto repertoire with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra have circulated widely through broadcast and streaming platforms. She has appeared as a soloist with orchestras in Asia and Europe and has given recitals at major festivals while continuing her studies. Her career is frequently cited as an example of the reach that international youth competitions can give to performers from outside the traditional European and North American conservatoire circuit.
