Bread was an American soft rock band formed in 1968 in Los Angeles by David Gates, Jimmy Griffin, and Robb Royer, known for melodic, close-harmony ballads. The group charted 13 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 between 1970 and 1977, including their only number-one hit, “Make It with You” (1970).

Bread helped define the soft rock sound of the early 1970s and were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2006.
