Brandon Jovanovich was born on 5 October 1970 in Billings, Montana. Initially thought to be a bass-baritone, he discovered his tenor voice while studying at Northern Arizona University, and went on to train at the Manhattan School of Music and apprentice with Santa Fe Opera in the mid-1990s.

Jovanovich has become a leading dramatic tenor known for roles such as Don José in Carmen, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Cavaradossi in Tosca, and Wagner’s Lohengrin, performing at La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, and the Bavarian State Opera. He won the Richard Tucker Award in 2007 and has appeared in numerous world and American operatic premieres.
