Boris Vadimovich Berezovsky was born on 4 January 1969 in Moscow. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory with Elisso Virsaladze and privately with Alexander Satz. He made his London debut at the Wigmore Hall in 1988 and won the Gold Medal at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow in 1990. He has since pursued an international career as a recitalist and concerto soloist, based for much of it in Brussels and Moscow.

Berezovsky is known above all for a formidable technique applied to the Russian Romantic repertoire, particularly Rachmaninoff, Medtner and Balakirev, and for the transcendental studies of Liszt and Godowsky. His recordings for Teldec, Warner and Mirare include the complete Rachmaninoff concertos and extensive Medtner, a composer whose revival he has actively promoted. He is also an active chamber musician and appears frequently at the Verbier Festival and other European summer festivals. Reviewers have consistently singled out the combination of large-scale virtuosity with a relatively unforced, classical approach to phrasing.
