Axelle Fanyo, born to a Togolese father and a Caribbean mother, grew up in Seine-Saint-Denis, France. She first earned a musicology degree from Sorbonne Paris IV before deciding at 21 to pursue operatic singing, entering the Paris National Conservatory (CNSMDP) in 2012 to study with Glenn Chambers.
