Luca Pisaroni was born on 8 June 1975 and grew up in Italy, where he began his vocal training. He came to wide attention at the age of twenty-six when he appeared with the Vienna Philharmonic under Nikolaus Harnoncourt at the Salzburg Festival. He has since sung at the Metropolitan Opera, the Royal Opera House, the Vienna State Opera, Glyndebourne and the Salzburg Festival. He tours regularly in joint recital programmes with the baritone Thomas Hampson.

Pisaroni is best known as a Mozart singer, with Leporello, Figaro, Guglielmo, Masetto and Don Alfonso among his roles, and he has sung both Leporello and the title role in Don Giovanni. He has steadily expanded into Handel and Rossini and into the nineteenth-century repertoire. Several of his Glyndebourne and Salzburg productions have been released on video, including the 2006 Glyndebourne Così fan tutte. He is also active in recital and concert, where his flexible bass-baritone and stage presence are frequently noted.
