Arthur Jussen was born on 28 September 1996 in the Netherlands into a musical family (his mother teaches flute, his father is a timpanist with the Dutch Radio Philharmonic Orchestra). He studied piano at the Amsterdam Conservatory under Jan Wijn and received additional guidance from Maria João Pires, Ricardo Castro, and Lang Lang. He rose to prominence performing as a piano duo with his older brother Lucas, appearing at the Concertgebouw while still in his early teens.

As one half of the Jussen brothers duo, Arthur signed a recording contract with Deutsche Grammophon in 2010, unusually young for the label, and the duo has since built an international career performing two-piano and four-hand repertoire with major orchestras. Their 2009 performance of Poulenc’s Concerto for Two Pianos with the Netherlands Radio Chamber Philharmonic helped establish their reputation. Arthur is primarily known as one member of an internationally recorded piano duo rather than as a solo pianist.
