Alexander-Sergei Ramírez is a classical guitarist born in Lima, Peru, who studied with Maritta Kersting in Germany, then in Alcoy, Spain with José-Luis González (a student of Andrés Segovia), and later with Pepe Romero in San Diego. He won first prize at the international Alhambra guitar competition in Spain and has taught as a professor at the Robert Schumann School of Music in Düsseldorf since 1997.
Ramírez has performed as a soloist with orchestras including the Orchestre National de Belgique and the Orquesta Nacional de Cuba, and appeared at major festivals such as Salzburg, Schleswig-Holstein, and the Rheingau Musik Festival. His Deutsche Grammophon recordings ‘Confesión’ (music of Agustín Barrios-Mangoré) and ‘Odyssey’ were well reviewed, and he is featured on the compilation ‘Masters of the Guitar’ alongside Segovia and Pepe Romero.
