Billy Joel is an American singer-songwriter and pianist from the Bronx, New York, nicknamed the “Piano Man” after his 1973 breakthrough single. Working in pop rock and soft rock with classical influences, he released a run of multi-platinum albums in the 1970s and 1980s, including The Stranger (1977) and 52nd Street (1978), and has sold over 160 million records worldwide.

A Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (1999) and Songwriters Hall of Fame (1992) inductee with six Grammy Awards, Joel is one of the best-selling recording artists of all time and held a decade-long residency at Madison Square Garden.
