The Cure are an English rock band formed in Crawley by Robert Smith (vocals, guitar) and Lol Tolhurst, with Smith remaining the group’s sole constant member. Moving from post-punk beginnings (Three Imaginary Boys, 1979) to pioneering gothic and alternative rock (Seventeen Seconds, Disintegration), they achieved major commercial success in the late 1980s and released the chart-topping Songs of a Lost World in 2024.

Widely regarded as one of the most significant alternative bands to emerge from the 1980s, the Cure have sold over 30 million records, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019, and have influenced generations of alternative and gothic rock artists.
