Valentin Novak was born in Maribor, Slovenia, and picked up the guitar at age six after watching his older sister play. At fourteen he began formal training at the Conservatory of Music and Ballet in Maribor, studying guitar and double bass while performing with various orchestras, and he is currently studying “Applied Musical Arts” under Dr. Tilman Hoppstock at the Akademie für Tonkunst in Darmstadt.

Still early in his career, Novak has described music as the medium through which he believes everyone should be able to express themselves and their emotions — a philosophy that shapes his ongoing studies and performances.
