Paloma Chaprnka is a young American classical guitarist from Naples, Florida, who began playing guitar around age three or four. At her first competition, aged ten, she won first prize at the Pensacola Fingerstyle Acoustic Guitar Competition. She is a student at the Interlochen Center for the Arts studying with Matthew Cochran, and has won first prizes at the Houston International Classical Guitar Competition and at competitions hosted by the University of Florida and Florida State University, as well as reaching the semifinals of the Stroud Classical Guitar Competition. She has performed in masterclasses for Manuel Barrueco, Jason Vieaux, Celil Refik Kaya and Gohar Vardanyan, and won the Traverse City Philharmonic Youth Concerto Competition, performing the first movement of Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez with the orchestra.
As a teenage competition winner already performing concerto repertoire with orchestra, Chaprnka is among the more prominent young American classical guitarists to emerge in the mid-2020s.
