The Italian guitarist Alberto Mesirca was born in 1984. He completed his Bachelor and Master of Arts at the Conservatory of Castelfranco Veneto in the class of Gianfranco Volpato, graduating summa cum laude with a special honor mention, and continued his studies at the Music Academy of Kassel in Germany with Wolfgang Lendle, where his Konzert-Examen was awarded highest honors.

Mesirca has received the “Golden Guitar” award three times, and, with Hopkinson Smith and Franco Pavan, published previously unknown compositions by Francesco da Milano discovered in the Castelfranco Veneto 1565 Lute Manuscript — a discovery that inspired Dušan Bogdanović to compose “Tre Ricercari sulla Compagna” for him. He has premiered works by Leo Brouwer and Angelo Gilardino, recorded the complete guitar works of Haitian composer Frantz Casséus with Marc Ribot, and performed with ensembles including the Enesco and Ardeo string quartets. Critics have singled out his recordings of Scarlatti, with the American Record Guide calling it “the best Scarlatti I’ve heard on solo guitar.”
