Biography (read more)

Oscar Emilio "Cacho" Tirao (1941–2007) was an Argentine guitarist who began playing at age four and, by sixteen, was appearing as a soloist with the orchestra of the Teatro Argentino de La Plata. In the late 1960s he became a member of the Astor Piazzolla Quintet. Over a career that included 36 solo albums, he moved fluidly between tango, jazz, samba, folklore, and classical music, becoming one of Argentina’s leading musical ambassadors abroad.

His compositions, including Milonga de Don Taco, Le Petit Tango, and the large-scale Conciertango Buenos Aires for guitar and orchestra, blend the tango idiom with concert guitar writing.
